Despite the wintry conditions outside we wish all visitors to our website a warm welcome to 2010. There have been numerous complaints regarding the condition of roads and pavements within the forum area and throughout Moray. Recent heavy snow falls and the current lack of salt/grit have made the clearance of these more difficult. The current policy is to prioritise main routes and to tackle the others accordingly as materials / resources allow. If you must go out during this time please take care whilst travelling through snow / ice and also be on the look out for black ice which is not always visible till you are on it.
The forum will discuss this issue at the next meeting on February 3rd, and we will look in depth at the placing of grit bins on our estates. We know from previous times that this can be costly and that locating these bins can cause issue, bearing this in mind the forum will take time to make any decisions on this issue.
At this time of year we should remember the elderly and less mobile members of our communities, especially with the recent bad and icy weather they may have become housebound. These people may welcome a call to ensure that they are ok and to ask if they require anything brought in such as fresh bread/milk etc... this may also be the only contact that these people have with anyone.
The refuse collections return to the fortnightly cycle week commencing Monday 18th January, for those living in the Bilbohall / New Elgin area the collection on the 20th will be for BROWN bins.
